Presentation Skills Training
Over the last month, approximately 60 teachers from Distance Education and Access Program schools attended a days training, facilitated by the Australian Film and Telvision School, on enhancing their presentations skills. The feedback from the teachers has indicated that the training was worthwhile, with many teachers commenting that they now have a better understanding of how their body language, voice pitch, tone and positioning affects the engagement levels of their students.
Karabar DEC, Camden Haven DEC and Dubbo School of Distance Education hosted the training at their schools, whilst teachers from NSW School of Languages attended the AFTaRS training facility.

Wellbeing Collegial Network meeting
DE Wellbeing Network Conference – 22-23 March 2018
This term, representatives across the various distance education schools came together for the inaugural DE Wellbeing Network Conference that was held at Sydney Distance Education High School. Over the course of 2 days, colleagues were engaged in a range of wellbeing discussions, including guest speakers from Youth off the Streets, Behavability: Youth Mental Health First Aid and the Australian Anti Ice Campaign. These sessions led to many rich and varied discussions, with plans in the future to meet using video conferencing to follow-up on mental health programs and initiatives discussed during the conference.
A huge congratulations to Rachel Angus from Sydney Distance Education High School for her organisation of the conference and enthusiastic leadership.
There are twenty three networks operating across the DE schools ranging from Pre-school through to Year 12. The current DE Collegial Network list is available.
