DE School News
The Learning Innovation Team at Southern Cross Distance Education have worked with David Foley, Manager DART to “flip the classroom” and develop a project based learning experience with the students on Kodia Island.
The Southern Cross students were fortunate to engage in a joint interactive live show with the Kodiac Island/Goonellabah Centre Snake man. This was an amazing experience and really well done.

Southern Cross DE Staff Wellbeing Initiative
A Wellbeing room has been provided for staff at Southern Cross DE to visit and focus on their well being. As well as this room being used by staff as they need a number of ongoing activities are offered to assist in wellbeing, such as meditation.
As one staff member said, “Coming together in the wellbeing room provides not only an opportunity to calm the mind and participate in some mindful meditation but gives an opportunity to connect with colleagues in a very positive and highly supportive environment. The wellbeing room for me, is a god send, in that by participating in daily lunch time meditation sessions the benefits are significant .”
The designated space for staff wellbeing is well utilised by staff creating a calming, caring mediatative environment offering environment to refresh, rebalance and renew. The flow-on effect is incredible with benefits to the whole school community, in particular to those students who are sensitive to stress.
